Gaming
in Oregon
Gambling is a big business in the
State of Oregon, generating hundreds of millions in revenues from tribal
casinos, a horse racing track, video lottery terminals and
the state lottery. According to the American Gaming
Association’s 2006 State of the States: The AGA Survey of Casino
Entertainment, Oregon as of December 2005 was the home nine (9) tribal
casinos and 2,044 video lottery terminals. In addition, the state has two modern greyhound
racing parks with a full range of pari-mutual betting options and simulcasting.
One park has horse racing. The state lottery in Oregon's biennial budget
ended June 30, 2005, paid out approximately three-quarters of a billion in prizes and provided the state $757 million
in the Lottery Fund.

Oregon
Oregon is one of only a handful of states to
specifically prohibit Internet gambling. Online players can be prosecuted
for a misdemeanor and Internet gambling sites face felony prosecution for
aggravated gambling.
